Summer Suits

Bonjour!  I'm back with a mindset to post more and divulge more tips...  So much has happened and time flashes by, but I always miss this blog and sharing fashion and travel experiences though my eyes.  My biggest goal is to make others feel that fashion and travel are very attainable and if it's something you desire you can possess it.  Hope my posts are relatable and at the very least give you some insight or brighten your day.  :-)   

At last, summer is approaching and there is nothing like a summer suit to brighten up the office atmosphere.  Love suits that are versatile like these two pictured here.  

Experiment with pops of color like coral, yellow, or orange instead of a black or white tank top.  Pin a brooch on the jacket to add personality and make the outfit your own.  You can also add a pop of color to your shoes.  I love these floral pumps that just really add that special touch.  Both suits are from Banana Republic. Keep in mind when shopping some of the suit jackets come in different lengths... this can make a world of a difference if you have a long or shorter torso. XO

Hello 😊 I know it's been awhile since my last post on DressLikeGenevieve, but life gets hectic and  I have to say I am super excited to be back with some new posts while preparing for my upcoming trips this summer as well as places that I have visited so far.  Not only do I love traveling, but I love the planning and thought process that goes into traveling way before I arrive at my destination.  Besides making the arrangements for my trip a big part of the planning is what I'm going to wear.  No matter where I am going dressing plays a major role because when I dream of my destinations I also dream of what I am wearing as I discover these new places.  When I dream I escape & dressing is another form of escape.  Instead of getting frustrated regarding what I must wear my creativity just builds and I've set the tone for the way I want to look & feel long before I arrive.  I'm a personal shopper during my free time so please don't hesitate to reach out...

Shanghai's Enchantment & what I wore

Earlier this year my husband and I decided to take a far away trip to the other side of the world.  The first stop on my anticipated trip was China.  We spent two days in Shanghai just to get a taste of the culture and to see the Yu Garden before our main travel destination.  The people in Shanghai were so pleasant, helpful, and welcoming.  They were overjoyed to be able to meet visitors from America and my husband and I were often asked to take pictures with them.  

Our second day included long walks, shopping indeed and exploring the enchanted Yu Garden.  For this particular day I wore a burnt orange romper that resembled a mini dress.  On the romper was one silver buckle accent on each side of the waist.  I donned a large straw hat with black ribbon lined accents to complete the outfit.  The weather started off rainy but that didn't dampen our thirst for exploring.  By mid morning as we got deep into the city of Old Shanghai it was a bright sunny day and perfect for reenacting a day dream that had been recurring in my mind for sometime now.

As I tried it on and looked at the lines of the garment and the understated sexiness of it all, I couldn't resist using it as a bathing suit.  The material doesn't drag when wet and what I love about it is that you can wear it in so many way.  Don't let names and titles of garments restrict how you can reinvent the way that they are used.
